NYC Media Lab 16 is NYC Media Lab’s fifth annual summit. The full day event is a snapshot of the best thinking, projects, and talent in digital media from universities in NYC and beyond. This is an opportunity for media executives, technologists, and decision makers to explore interesting technologies and applications related to the future of media. Jim Bankoff is the Chairman and CEO of Vox Media, running all aspects of what has become the fastest growing digital media company today. Emily Bell is founding director of the Tow Center for Digital Journalism at Columbia Journalism School, and a leading thinker, commentator and strategist on digital journalism. Established in 2010, the Tow Center has rapidly built an international reputation for research into the intersection of technology and journalism.
VR is a new medium that draws from the best of many disciplines and techniques, such as art, engineering, animation, and game design. NYCML16 will host a panel discussion about its creative and commercial potential, to be moderated by the Lab's Executive Director Justin Hendrix.

The Demo Expo at NYCML16 is an opportunity for students and faculty to meet representatives from the tech industry, potential investors and collaborators. With 100+ demos on view, the Expo Hall will be the year’s biggest pan-university media showcase in New York City. The NYC Media Lab will also award more than $25,000 in prizes to honor the most technical, impactful and creative projects.
Taiwan Startup Stadium
NYC Media Lab welcomes Taiwan Startup Stadium to NYCML16. 10 startup teams have travelled to present their startups. Taiwan Startup Stadium (TSS) is a hub that coaches Taiwan startups to go global and rock the world through intensive programs, strong leadership, and a broad network of global partners.
NYC Media Lab connects technologists in digital media and technology companies with bright minds in New York City's universities in order to drive innovation and talent development. A public-private partnership launched by the New York City Economic Development Corporation, Columbia University and New York University, the Lab hosts events and seed projects to foster collaboration across a range of disciplines core to the future of media.
